This blog is dedicated to the Hession or OhOisin family which has its origins in Co. Galway and Co. Mayo from at least the 11th Century. It is a relatively rare name and so relatively easy to locate down the ages. My interest was first motivated by the realisation that the name implies descent from an Oisin, fictional or otherwise, and some vague and half-remembered stories, reluctantly told about an Archbishop of Tuam, and a Great Aunt active in the Irish Language and Folklore movement. It turns out a lot can be discovered through online searching that may not have been possible years ago. This blog is an evolution of a Facebook Page established some years ago.
